Seitan Limania: A Hidden Gem
When you come to Chania and stay at Airis Boutique Hotel & Suites don’t forget to put on your must visit list the hidden gem of Seitan Limania.
Seitan Limania is a tiny beach in a narrow sea inlet on the east side of the Akrotiri peninsula, after the village Chordaki. It may seem totally remote but in fact, this spectacular beach is located just 20 km away from the city center of Chania.
The name consists of two parts, Seitan which actually means “devil” in Turkish, and Limania that means “ports” in Greek. It has also various other names such as “Stefanou” or “Rizoskloko”.
This beach is not a usual one, it is really like a paradise in heaven. It is a narrow canal with white beautiful sands and pebbles and of course, it is famous for its transparent vivid blue crystal waters. On the right and the left side of the cove, huge marble rocks are standing high to protect the beach from the bad weather.
All these, along with its isolation from crowded areas, make it a quite extraordinary place. For many years, until the road was constructed, the beach was not very popular, and it was known only to locals. Nowadays, this tiny cove might easily get busy so, try to avoid weekends.
Keep in mind that they are no traditional beach conveniences in Seitan Limania. It doesn’t have any sunbeds or umbrellas, only the rocks and cliffs can provide some corners of shade.
So, here we have a list of the things you should bring with you:
• Water & Snacks
• Beach towel
• Beach umbrella or hat
• Athletic shoes to trek among the cliffs to reach the absolutely stunning spot
The beach is not organized at all and this is the real beauty and magic of this place. We hope when you visit Airis Boutique Hotel & Suites to have the chance to discover this truly hidden paradise.
